All the handmade pottery you see here was created by Jose Bonilla up in a little town in the White Mountains called Bethlehem, NH. His studio space is located at 42 Maple Contemporary Art Center, where he is a resident artist. Jose has been an artist for most of his life, working with many mediums from charcoal and oils, to his most recent love – clay.
In 2010, Jose took a pottery class and has been creating all kinds of things from clay ever since. He believes that making a piece of pottery is not just a task, or a job that needs to be done, but more of a goal – creating a piece that will find a home, a place where it will be used or appreciated for many years to come.
We believe our pieces are not complete until they are in the hands of their owner, for who it was truly meant to be.
I take pride and honor in creating art from clay, it gives my soul peace and a sense of accomplishment for those that may be looking to enjoy a piece made from Nitty Gritty Pottery. Getting dirty, and down to it, is nothing but an honor and joy; to give you down to earth pottery for you to enjoy!
